San Diego Performing Arts League - Board of Directors

D. Candis Paule - President

D. Candis Paule, CSA, is a casting director and owner of Candis Casting, and the casting director for Stu Segall Productions. She has cast "The Ex List" for CBS, "Terriers" for F/X and nearly 3 seasons of "Veronica Mars" for the CW Network. Along with several episodics for Fox’s My Network, she has helped cast a variety of pilots and movies of the week. Feature film credits include “Flying By” starring Billy Ray Cyrus and Heather Locklear, and "Obedient Son", a WWII drama shot in Romania. She has also cast many commercials and industrials. She currently is the Producer of the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture's Look & Listen: Performing Arts Series. Candis' theater experience includes directing, most notably for the Playwrights Project and The Fritz Theatre in San Diego, and she has been seen throughout the country as an award-winning actor. In addition to voice-over work and private coaching, Ms. Paule teaches on-camera classes with Actors For Reel.

Gary Kramer - Vice President

Gary Kramer is a producer, director and actor and is currently the Artistic Director and founder of the National Comedy Theatre. His production of the National Comedy Theatre is currently the longest running show in San Diego, with over 3200 performances since opening in 1999. In addition to the San Diego production, Gary also directs the New York company of the show and has taught extensively for over 20 years. He has participated in countless shows across the country as well as internationally through 4 USO tours, where he performed in places such as Iraq, Kuwait, Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain and Belgium. As a performer, Gary has also appeared on television, film, commercials and radio and earned a BFA degree from Emerson College in Boston. Gary is a co-founder and sits on the Board of Directors of the cancer foundation Cancer411.

Ron Tov - Treasurer

An architect by profession, Ron Tov is an avid theatergoer and supporter. Having lived in San Diego since 1960, Ron has witnessed phenomenal growth and change in San Diego's performing arts scene. In 2009, Ron produced the San Diego premiere of the Off-Broadway musical "Zanna, Don't!". Ron joined the SDPAL Board in September 2009, and is currently serving as its Treasurer.

Sue Mason - Secretary

Sue Mason is the Director of Visitor Services for the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau. She is responsible for overseeing the SDCVB’s three Official Visitor Information Centers; one located Downtown on the waterfront, one located in the Village of La Jolla, as well as the California Welcome Center in Alpine. She also chairs the Visitor Center Network – San Diego Region (16 Visitor Centers dedicated to providing the ultimate in customer service to San Diego’s visitors). Sue has coordinated Volunteer and Ambassador training programs for the America’s Cup Races, Republican National Convention, American Society of Association Executives, PCMA, and three Super Bowls. She received the 1999 Gold Key Allied Member of the Year Award from HMA & HSMA, as well as the 2010 James V. Cunningham Award, for her contributions to the hospitality industry. Sue is a third generation Californian and has enjoyed working for the SDCVB since 1985. After hours, Sue loves the performing arts and is a volunteer usher at three local theaters.

Joe Vecchio - Director at Large

Joe Vecchio is the Co-Host, Announcer and Producer of “It’s Your Money or Your Life” on KFMB Radio 760 AM in San Diego. Vecchio has also worked with WMAQ-5 in Chicago, KGTV-10 in San Diego, and produced Bree Walker’s talk radio program on KTLK-1150AM in Los Angeles. A San Diego resident since 1977, he has volunteered his time and services for many nonprofit boards, including The Wellness Community of San Diego (charter member), Club Wellness (founding President) , UNICO National, Toastmasters International, the Scripps Foundation for Medicine and Research, The Leukemia Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-San Diego Chapter, The Burnham Institute for Medical Research, the Arthritis Foundation of San Diego and Imperial Counties, and the San Diego Film Festival. He has also served on the Community Relations Committee of the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau. He has been Director of Community Relations at the San Diego Arthritis Medical Clinic and was the Director of Marketing and Communications for Wayne Foster Entertainment. Joe also directs and programs the community film series at Lestat’s West in San Diego.
